The first years ' School reading textbooks of the Post-Soviet RusSia are the field where 
many cultural, political and educational influences meet. One can See in them the 50- 
called „utopian' and at the Same time real universe of the model world presented to a 
Pupil. It means to us very important to look at the , middle part' between primaries from 
the one Side and the Secondary School books from the other. When pedagogy, State bu- 
reaucracy, educational theory and practice mix with each other on the cultural field of 
ihe images of the ideal adults for children, many Stereotypes continue to be alive along- 
Side with the new ideals. This paper Shows how the authors of the PoSst-Communist ele- 
mentary School reading textbooks work with contradictory family concepts in their Sear- 
ching of the new ideal manual for pupils. We investigated one example of the recent 
Russian textbooks of this type printed in 2002-2003 and became winners of the high 
governmental award for the books of this kind. Analysing Schoolbooks compiled by Ga- 
lina Kudina and Zinaida Navlyanskaya for the 1*, 2", 3, and the 4" forms of the mass 
Schools we would like to demonstrate how the majority of the explicit old levels of the 
Soviet times' textbooks can Survive in the new books as implicit ones and how the cur- 
rent everyday life helps them not only to Survive but to be renovated also. Our paper 
traces a transition between many Soviet and Post-Soviet realities through this given 
example of current Russian elementary Schoolbooks. The detailed examination of the 
contents has been made. We traced the texts and images of parents and other relatives, 
neighbors and Strangers, etc. An interesting outcome was that we have met the vague 
family concern in these RusSian Schoolbooks, very low percentage of parents ' images in 
comparison with other adults, and Strict traditional Social roles of them. We Supposed 
that zuch Situation is firstly because of the uncertain Social realities with family Situation 
and Secondly because the low attention to familial education in the previous Soviet ti-
